Maths

This week in Maths I am going to be setting a Maths investigation for you each day. You will need to use the maths skills you have already learnt in Year 1 to think about how to work out the answers. Today you are going to be trying to arrange nine coloured squares into one large square so that no square of the same colour is next to each other. You may have to ask an adult to draw nine small squares for you can then you can colour them in.

English

This week we are going to be using a video for our English work called ‘Caterpillar Shoes’.  Caterpillar shoes is a story about a Caterpillar. He is very hungry, all he does all day is walk and eat and walk and eat. On every pair of feet, a pair of tiny shoes he wears.

Today I would like you to work with an adult to watch the video and answer the questions below. I have split the questions into three sections. Your adult will need to pause the video and specific points and then ask you questions about what is happening.

 https://www.literacyshed.com/caterpillar-shoes.html

Questions to ask:

Section 1

Pause the film after 52 seconds – after he sets off into the woods at once.

• What do caterpillars do?

• What has he got on his feet?

• Why does he want to give away his shoes?

• Who do you think he will meet in the woods?

Section 2

Pause the film after the caterpillar leaves the woodlouse.

• What shoes does he give to the woodlouse?

• Why does he give him these ones?

• How do we know the woodlouse likes them?

• What does the word jig mean?

• Can you think of any action words to describe what the woodlouse does?

Section 3

Pause the film when the caterpillar leaves the spider.

• Which word rhymes with most? Can you think of others?

• Which shoes does he give to spider?

• She says they will keep her feet as warm as what?

Afternoon Work- St David’s Day

Today is a very special day in Wales called St David’s Day. I love visiting Wales and have spent lots of time visiting castles and all the beautiful scenery, I can't wait to go back to Wales in the summer hopefully. Go to this link in Espresso to learn all about what happens on St David's day in Wales. Login: student22316 password: abc123

https://central.espresso.co.uk/espresso/primary_uk/subject/news/video/item778120/grade1/index.html?source=espresso-home-mixedhighlights

St David is the patron saint of Wales and was alive a very long time ago, over 1000 years in fact! St David's day is an important day for welsh people and lots of celebrations are held. This year will be slightly different because of the coronavirus restrictions, but welsh people will still be celebrating at home. To mark St David's day, welsh people wear one or both of the national emblems; the daffodil and the leek. The red dragon is also a national symbol of Wales and appears on the welsh flag. I have added some St David's day themed activities below such as make a welsh flag, a pinwheel daffodil or even get cooking and make some leek and potato soup for lunch.

Have a lovely day Year 1, we are looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow for our dance party. If you would like me to play a particular song then send me the song request through purple mash by Tuesday at 12pm so I can make sure I have them ready for the dance party at 2pm.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/school-radio/dance-ks1-time-to-move-spring-in-the-garden-1-worms-on-the-move/zjx3382

This next activity comes to you from the Strictly Come Dancing Star Oti Mabuse! So if her style of dancing is more your thing then the link below will take you to a dance session based on the music from the Trolls film. I love Poppy and Branch from Trolls. smiley

https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=MCeo6Q3p7Mc

And your last dance option comes for another one of my favourite things, Just Dance! So for a different type of dancing, here are some hip hop tutorials for you to have a go at if those moves are more up your street. Enjoy!

Afternoon work- RE

This half term we will be learning about why Easter is such an important time for Christians. Today we are going to start our work by learning all about Palm Sunday which is on on Sunday 28th March 2021. Palm Sunday marks the start of Holy Week for Christians who believe that this was Jesus' last week on Earth. Ask an adult to go through the information power point with you and talk through the story. Can you remember the story and tell your adult what happened?

Once you shared the story, can you make your own donkey and palm leaves? You will need two wooden clothes pegs for the donkeys legs. Can you write words on your palm leaves about Palm Sunday?

Welcome back to home learning, I hope you had a lovely half term break.  I know we are all not able to do much at the moment, but I do hope you had a good rest and lots of fun. I have missed talking to you every day and am really happy to be back.  Are you ready for a new week of home learning? Let’s go!

If you find the tens and ones too tricky, start with the ones on their own first, then try and move to doing tens and ones. Once you have played this game then please watch the video below.

Represent numbers to 50

After you have watched the video of all the different ways of representing numbers within fifty, I would like you to look at the work below representing numbers to fifty on a bead string and choose the one you feel most comfortable with. I have also added some challenge cards if you want to try something a little more challenging. smiley

This week our English focus is going to be on Year 1 grammar and we are starting today by recapping using 'and' to join words and sentences to make them sound more interesting. First, I would like you to play this game where you have to read sentences and then choose the one that makes sense. Every time you choose the correct sentence you will complete one piece of the rocket puzzle. Go to this link to play

https://www.roythezebra.com/reading-games/sentences-that-make-sense-1-1.html

Once you have played this game I would like you to ask an adult to go through the power point about using 'and'. Once you have done this, have a look at the work I have set for you. Do not worry about printing it, you can write out the work on a piece of paper.

First, I would like you to ask an adult to talk through the power point with you and then I have have set work for you to choose the correct word to complete the sentence depending on what object is being used. You may need to ask an older sibling or an adult for help with some of the words. You do not need to complete both sheets, just choose the one the you feel most comfortable with. yes

I have added a template for you with lots of words on that you can choose from. Remember when you are writing your sentences to use capital letters, fingers spaces and full stops. Try and also write in a cursive style please and use and to join your words and sentences.

Example:

The monster has big pointy tusks inside his mouth.

He has fluffy orange fur and big blue eyes.

Afternoon work-PE

You will remember that in PE you have been practising your gymnastics routine that you created. If you can ask an adult to film your routine and send it to me that would be great so I can see the moves you have added into your routine. I would like you to think  about your routine and see if you can improve it or change it. Can you make any of the rolls or jumps a little harder? Please do not do this without adult supervision and only if you feel comfortable and confident in what you are doing. Green are the easiest working down to red that are that hardest.

Have a lovely day Year 1, we miss you all. Please keep sending me your work on purple mash, I do really love seeing everything you have been doing.

Good Morning Year 1, smiley

Its Friday again! How quick has the week gone, there is only one more week until we finish for half term. I really enjoyed our dance party yesterday, I loved seeing you all enjoy yourself and have some fun, it really made me happy.  I hope you felt happy after it too. I know Miss Jervis and Mrs Downey enjoyed doing the Locomotion smiley Thank you for sending me your work on purple mash, it makes my day when I get to see all your lovely work. You are all working really hard and I am very proud of you. If you haven't had chance to send me some work yet, please do, I would love to see it. heart

Its spelling test day today, so please ask an older sibling or an adult to test you on this weeks spellings. Your spellings for next week are now on spelling shed. Good luck! yes

Maths

In Maths today I would like you to practise your maths skills by playing the games I have chosen. First is a counting game. In this game you have to count the number of Yeti that you can see on the screen and then choose the correct number at the top. You can choose a bronze, silver or gold level it is up to you.

https://www.themathsfactor.com/games/try/?gameid=46&prefix=ZONE&config=IPG_CM_Y1_CA_001,%20support&title=Count%20the%20Yeti%201%20to%2010

The next game is a more or less game. You have to look at the number on screen and then choose 1 more and 1 less. you can change the numbers at the top of the game within 10 or 20.

https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/beeMoreOrLess/

The final game I would like you to play is a Mucky Monsters Game. Look at the Mucky Monsters and choose who has the most/least on their hands. Listen to the question and choose the hand with the correct answer.

 https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/muckyMonsters/

English

In English today we are going to finish or work on Man on the Moon by writing our own stories. Yesterday I asked you to create a story map using your Alien and the planet you have designed. When you are writing your stories, use the story map to get you started and see if you can improve your sentences by joining words with 'and'. Remember your capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. Also try and write in a cursive style too. Good Luck with your space stories I am sure they will be AMAZING!

Afternoon Work

You have all worked incredibly hard this week Year 1 and I have enjoyed our live meetings as I always do. If you didn't get chance to join in this week then please try and join us next week. You definitely deserve a break and some time to chill today. It has been Children's Mental Health week this week which has been a focus for our afternoon sessions but our mental health is important every day and we need to make sure we look after it and take time for ourselves to mange our feelings and emotions in a positive and healthy way. This afternoon I would like you to choose your favourite movie, your favourite toy or teddy, snuggle up and relax.

I have added some more mental health activities if you want to have a look at them either over the weekend or next week. You don't have to do them, they are there if you want to.

Starting on Saturday 6th February the CPRE countryside charity are doing a star count and you can get involved. I will be doing this from home, it sounds like lots of fun. Go to this link for more information. I have also added the Star count activity pack below.

https://www.cpre.org.uk/what-we-care-about/nature-and-landscapes/dark-skies/star-count-2021/

Have a super safe and relaxing weekend Year 1, we will see you all again next week. We miss you all lots and can't wait until we are all back together. Thank you for all your effort and hard work. Thank you also to all the adults involved in supporting the children's learning. We really appreciate it, and its good to see you on our live sessions too! smileyyes

Keep being awesome!

Good Morning Year 1,

How are you all today? Thank you to those of you who joined me in phonics yesterday afternoon, you all did great! I am so proud of all of you. I am looking forward to this afternoon's live meeting, don't forget to bring your dancing shoes. How have you been getting on with the afternoon activities? I really hope you have been enjoying them. smiley

Phonics

Today in phonics you are going to recapping the digraph -er as in bigger. Watch the short video and then have a go at writing the er words from the worksheet. Can you put 2 of them into sentences?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzMAPSVasSM&list=PLuGr6z2H2KNF16mdL61bhR_pfztN5Vmjx&index=2

Maths

You have done so well Year 1 with your addition and subtraction within 10 and 20, I am very pleased with all the work I have seen on purple mash. If you haven't had chance to send me work yet then please do if you can. Today I would like you to start by playing this fruit splat game. You can choose numbers 1-10 or 1-20 and then you have to splat the number that matches the number word.

https://www.sheppardsoftware.com/math/early-math/number-words-fruit-splat-game/

Once you have played this game, have a look at the maths activity mats I have set for today and choose the one you feel most comfortable doing. Each one has 8 questions on it linked to work we have already covered in Year 1.

English

Great planet work yesterday, I have seen some really unusual and exciting planets that you have designed and described. This week in our English work we have been to the moon, got lost and met an alien and then gone to a new planet. We are now going to use all of these ideas to plan our own story. Start off by drawing a story map of events, the journey to the moon, meeting the alien, the new planet etc. What could happen on this new planet? In most stories we have a problem which is then solved for example red riding hood gets eaten, the woodcutter then rescues her. I have added a template for a space story map for you. Use the work you have already done this week with the alien and the planet you have designed. You can either write or draw your story on the story map. Tomorrow we will be writing our stories so you only need to write a short sentence if you choose to write your story map instead of drawing it. smiley

Afternoon Work

I hope you have been enjoying the afternoon activities this week, I have really enjoying thinking about my mental health and how to look after it. Today I want you to think about what makes you special. There is no one in the entire world just like you, you are unique and this is what is so amazing. Using the shield template (or draw the shield if you would like) draw a picture of yourself in the middle and then around your picture, write or draw all the things about you that make you special.

Have a lovely day Year 1, we are looking forward to seeing you on the live meet this afternoon at 2pm.

Home Learning-Wednesday 3rd February

Good Morning Year 1, smiley

How amazing was the snow yesterday! I was so excited when I woke up. Did you manage to get some time outside? I played with the snow I had to take off my car, it was good for my mental health and made me smile and feel very calm. . I felt very yellow and green. I am sorry I couldn't make the live meeting but Miss Jervis and Mrs Downey told me you were all amazing and you all wore your colour monster colours and you had really thought about your feelings and emotions. Well done!

**Today my phonics group starts at 2pm so please log on for our phonics session, also make sure you

have a pencil and a piece of paper please**

Phonics

Today in phonics you are going to recapping the trigraph air as in chair. Watch the short video and then have a go at the air spelling game.

Video: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuGr6z2H2KNF16mdL61bhR_pfztN5Vmjx

Game:  https://games.galacticphonics.com/othervowels/air/interactive/airspell/airspellt.htm

Maths

Today we are going to be looking at related number facts using bar models. Bar models work just like part whole models, the whole number is on top and the two parts that make the whole are underneath. You can use the 3 numbers to make addition and subtraction fact families.

First I would like you to play this block buster game. You have to choose 3 numbers that go together to make a fact family for example 3 + 1 = 4 so you would choose 3, 1 and 4 in the game to score points. Go to this link to play

https://www.roomrecess.com/mobile/BlockBuster/play.html

After you have done that, ask an adult to go through the power point with you about bar models for todays work and then choose the work you feel most comfortable with. I have also added some challenge cards if you want to try some problem solving.

                               Level 1                                                     Level 2                                                     Level 3

English

How did you get on creating and describing your Aliens yesterday? The ones I have seen on purple mash are brilliant! Today we are carrying on with us still being on the moon. We have met an Alien and now the Alien is going to take you to another planet. Watch this video on planets and as you watch look at each of the planets and think about what they are like. You will be able to use the ideas from these planets to create and describe your own planet today.

https://www.literacyshed.com/the-sci---fi-shed.html

After you have watched the planets video, I would like you to draw and describe your planet. I have done an example for you below. I have used capital letters, finger spaces, full stops and cursive writing. I have used the word 'and' to join my words together. Its a lot to remember in your writing Year 1 but I know you can all try really hard to do this in your writing. Think of a name for the planet you design, it can be called anything you want. What is it like on your planet? Use adjectives to describe what it looks like.

Afternoon Work

How did you get on with your positivity jars yesterday? I have seen some amazing ones on purple mash. smiley the first thing I would like you to do this afternoon is to watch this short video all about being thankful. Can you think of something that you are thankful for? I am thankful for my family, I love them very much. heart

https://strideactive.org/health/childrens-mental-health-week/

Once you have done this we are going to look at a song. I know you have all been learning Zootime but today I would like you to listen to the song 'Bringing Us Together'. Music is really good for our metal health and this particular song is all about being there for each other and how music makes us feel good.

https://charanga.com/resources/36874-learn-to-sing-the-song-bringing-us-together

You can just listen to the song, have a go at singing it or do the warm up activities. I really like the message in this song, it makes me feel happy and I hope it makes you feel happy too. laugh

Once you have had a little sing, I want you to look at the images I have put below and discuss with an adult what would be the best way to deal with an emotion in a positive way. Sometimes when we are angry or sad we can shout or be grumpy with our family when it isn't really their fault. Talking about your feelings and choosing a positive way to deal with your emotion is a great way of making you feeling happy and calm again. All yellow and green like the colour monster.

Have a lovely day Year 1, I am looking forward to seeing you in phonics at 2pm. We all miss you lots.

Home Learning- Tuesday 2nd February

Good Morning Year 1, smiley

I hope you have all had a lovely day yesterday. I am sorry if there has been some confusion over the phonics, the children who have already been doing phonics online with Miss Jervis and Mrs Downey, please continue this as normal. For the rest of the children who haven't done any online phonics, you will be meeting with me weekly at 2pm on a Wednesday the same way you log on for the live meetings on a Tuesday and Thursday. Today is our live meeting at 2pm and I would like you to think about what colour you would like to wear to represent how you are feeling. Think about the colour monster and the different colours he is when he is feeling different emotions. We will be talking about our feelings today.

Phonics- ear as in near

Today we are going to recap the trigraph ear as in near. A trigraph is three letters, one sound. Watch the lesson and then have a look at the real and nonsense words with the trigraph ear in them. Can you write down all the real words? Once you have done this, please choose 2 of the real words and put them into a sentence.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5pPdWSeljY&list=PLuGr6z2H2KNF16mdL61bhR_pfztN5Vmjx&index=4

Maths

In Maths today we are going to be looking at addition and subtraction related facts. First, I would like you to go to this activity and using the numbers on the right hand side of the screen, make two addition number sentences and two subtraction number sentences. Go to this link

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/number-facts/number-fact-families

Once you have played this activity, ask an adult to go through the power point for today and then choose the work that you feel most comfortable with. I have also added some challenge cards if you want to try something a little harder. yes

                             Level 1                                                   Level 2                                                      Level 3

English

In English today we are going to imagine we are on the moon again like yesterday but this time we get lost and can’t find our way back to the rocket. What might happen? What if you met an Alien! What I would like you to do is to design and then describe the Alien you have met whilst lost on the moon.

Afternoon work

For the past few weeks we have been doing gymnastics and last week I asked you to design a routine and practise it. Have a go at doing that first and then I would like you to ask and adult to help you with the positivity jar activity. Our mental health is really important and a positivity jar is filled with all the amazing things abut you! If you are ever feeling sad, you can look at the slips in the jar and remind yourself just how amazing and special you are. laugh

Have a lovely day Year 1, I am excited to see you all in your colourful clothing this afternoon on our live meeting.

Home Learning- Monday 1st February

Good Morning Year 1, smiley

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend and are ready for a new week of Home Learning. This week is ‘Children’s Mental Health Week’ so our afternoon sessions this week will be linked to our mental health and the things we can do to look after it.

There is a virtual assembly available on the Children’s Mental Health Week website which explain all about the week as it aims to bring the nation together to give a positive message about the power of creative self-expression. The assembly goes live at 9am this morning and I would urge you all to watch it if you can. Follow the link below to find out more information.

https://www.childrensmentalhealthweek.org.uk/news/children-s-mental-health-week-assembly-with-bafta-kids-and-oak-national-academy/

Also this week, I will be doing a phonics session on a Wednesday afternoon at 2pm. If you are not already doing phonics with Miss Jervis or Mrs Downey on Monday's or Wednesday's then please log onto a live meeting with me on Wednesday at 2pm.

Phonics-oi as in coil

Today we are going to recap the digraph oi as in coil. Watch the lesson and then complete the worksheet please. Fill in the missing oi words from the sentences.

Maths

In maths today we are going to be continuing with subtraction by crossing 10 using numbers frames and part whole models. Before we do that, go to this game and practise your subtraction skills. Choose your boat and the colour and then rae your boat  by answering the subtraction number sentences correctly.

https://www.arcademics.com/games/island-chase

As we have already started subtraction last week, ask an adult to go through today's power point with you and then choose the work you feel most comfortable.

English

We are continuing with our book ‘Man on the Moon-a day in the life of Bob’ and  today we are going to Space as moon tourists this morning – turn off the lights, lie down on the floor as though you are upside down and waiting to blast off in rocket. How would you feel as you land on the moon? Would it be cold/hot? Would you be scared/excited? How might it feel to walk on the moon? Imagine you have landed on the moon and act how what you think it would feel like. Walking as thought your feet are heavy, what do you see as you look around? What can you hear? Using your knowledge of the 5 senses, write down what you can see, hear, taste, touch and smell on the moon.  Go to this link to see me explain this task in more detail.

https://youtu.be/4uOClYOk4Js

Afternoon Work

All week we are going to be doing activities linked to our mental health and the things we can do to look after it. We have already used The Colour Monster book in school but to remind you, go to this link to listen to the story again. Talk to an adult about each emotion that the Colour Monster is feeling.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IY6d1jyvmVg

Every day this week I will be asking you to think about how you feel using the colours of The Colour Monster. I have added some check in sheets for you that you can use every day. If you can't print these, just draw the colour you are feeling each day and have a think about why you are feeling that way.

Once you have had a look at the feelings power point with an adult, have a look at this Guided Yoga in the forest from Forestry England.

Home Learning- Friday 29th January

Good Morning Year 1, smiley

Well we have reached Friday again and another week has flown by. Thank you to those of you that were able to join me for our live meeting yesterday I really enjoyed the scavenger hunt and you all did amazing! A real life tortoise joined in as a bumpy item! I know I say this all the time Year 1 but I am so very proud of you, when you joined me in September you seemed so little just out of reception. Now I see such confident Year 1 children working from home, joining live meetings, sending work through purple mash and being so sensible about not being in school at the moment.

You all amaze me every single day and I am so proud to be your teacher. heart

Spellings

It's spelling test day Year 1, please ask an adult or an older sibling to test you. Your new spellings are also on for next week. Remember to practise your spellings throughout the week on spelling shed. Good Luck! yes

Phonics- Review the sounds from the week

Today for phonics you will be reviewing the sounds from this week. Once you have watched the video which recaps all the sounds that have been covered, I want you to go to this link and play 'Giggling Grapheme'. Choose the sounds oo, ar and or and then play again with the sounds ur, ow and oi.

After that please watch the short video and then ask an adult to go through today's power point with you. Once you have done this, look at the work I have set and choose the one you feel more comfortable with. If you want a challenge, I have also set some challenge cards.

Subtraction crossing 10 (1)

English

In English today you are going to be retelling the story by writing a story board. Yesterday you drew the pictures into a story map and some of you wrote it. Today I want to you draw pictures from the story in order and then write down what happens in each picture. You may want to use your story maps from yesterday to help you with this or listen to story again on You tube. You can choose different parts of the story to write about as well. We only focused on what Bob did once he reached the moon, you can start from the very beginning of the story.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt5zQ1UO6rE

Afternoon Work- Music and Golden Time

Before you choose your golden time activity and take a well earned rest after such a hard week of work, I would like you to practise our 'Zootime' song again. https://charanga.com/resources/17142-learn-to-sing-the-song-zootime

Have another practise of the first verse and then try the second verse. If you feel confident with both, then why not give the whole song a try.

Once you have had a little singing practise, I would like you to choose a golden time activity that you enjoy and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and having some fun.

You have worked incredibly hard again this week Year 1. I love seeing all the things you have been up to. Please keep sending me your work on purple mash and joining on the lives when you can. I really enjoy seeing your happy smiley faces. smiley

It is children's mental health week next week so lots of the activities we will be doing in the afternoons will be linked to this. I will explain more on Monday but we will be looking at The Colour Monster again, I love this book and I know you all do too.

Have a super safe and enjoyable weekend Year 1, we will see you again next week. Thank you again to all the adults supporting the children with their learning, it is always very much appreciated.

We miss you lots, Miss Jewell, Miss Jervis and Mrs Downey heart xxx

Home Learning- Thursday 28th January

Good Morning Year 1, smiley

How are you all today? I am looking forward to seeing you on our live meeting today. Today we will be having some fun with a scavenger hunt. I will ask you to go find something and you have to see if you can find it and bring it back as fast as you can. So I might say 'Can you find something green or squishy?' You might go and find a green toy or a squishy cushion. Let's have some fun!

Phonics

Today in phonics you are going to recapping the phoneme ow-as in owl. Watch the video by going to the link below and then complete the work I have set. yes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DV3vzwk9E_Q

Maths

Today in Maths you are going to be subtracting by counting back. When you are subtracting (taking away), the numbers get smaller. You always start with the biggest number and take away the smallest number for example, 15-4 not 4-15.

First I would like you to start with a game to practise subtracting. Go to this link

https://uk.splashlearn.com/maths-skills/year-2/subtraction/count-back-to-subtract

Once you have done this, ask an adult to go through today's power point with you and then choose from the work I have set. I have also set some subtraction challenges if you want to have a go.

Afternoon Work-Geography

Today I would like to think about the best playground you have ever been to and the best playground equipment you played on. I have added some pictures of cool playgrounds below and I would like you to design your very own dream playground. You can have anything you want in your playground. Can you make it as interesting as unusual as you can? Imagine that Mr Moore has asked Year 1 to design a new playground for school. Use the template I have provided to draw and label everything you would have in your dream playground.

Have a lovely day Year 1, we are looking forward to seeing you this afternoon. yes

Good Morning Year 1, smiley

Thank you for joining me in our live meet yesterday. You all did so well with the maths activities I am incredibly proud of you. The weather was awful again yesterday with all the rain, I can’t wait for all the lovely warm sunshine to return. How are you all getting on at home? I know that it can be difficult as you are not seeing your friends in school altogether, I miss you all lots and can't wait for us to all be back in the classroom. I know some of you are having difficulties with Reading eggs and accessing the reading comprehension I have set. Please do not worry about this. I will have another look at it.

Today in phonics you are going to recapping the phoneme ur-as in fur Watch the video and then complete the work I have set. Have a look at this story and see if you can spot the 'ur' phoneme. When you see this sound, can you write down the word that the 'ur' sound appears in.

Maths

Today in Maths we are going to be subtracting (taking away).   First I would like you to play a subtraction game. Go to this link https://uk.splashlearn.com/subtraction-games and choose this game

Once you have done this, ask an adult to go through the power point with you and then have a look at the work I have set. Choose the work that you feel most comfortable with. If you complete this work and fancy a challenge, I have added some challenge cards for you to try.

(The video for today's maths is at the bottom of today's work)

English

Today in English you are going to listen to the whole story of the book we will be doing for the next two weeks. The book is called 'Man on the Moon-a day in the life of Bob'. The main character in our story is a man called Bob who works on the moon. This explains why he has so many space themed objects and pictures in his house. Lots of you made a prediction that this character had something to do with space! Great guessing Year 1!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt5zQ1UO6rE

Once you have watched and listened to the story, I want you to think about the main character of the story-Bob. We are going to be writing a character profile all about him. Look at each of the sections and complete the information about Bob. For the last section of the character profile, write down one interesting fact about Bob that you have learnt from the story.

 Afternoon work- RE and Art

This afternoon we are going to continue thinking about our friends. Last week we thought about who our friends are and what fun things you enjoying doing with them. This week we are going to think about how you can be a good friend. What do you do that makes you a good friend? What do you want your friends to be like? Ask an adult to go through the power point and discuss what being a good friend looks like. Does your friend help you when you are feeling upset or hurt? Do they share their things with you? Once you have been through the power point with an adult, use the image of a person and write on the qualities you would like in a friend. Look at the images I have given you and think about which of these you want in a friend and if you do these things as well. See the example I have added below.

Art

In Art we are going to be looking at some pictures which are called 'Abstract Art'. Abstract Art is a picture that doesn't represent anything specific. It isn't a picture of a place or a person or an object, it can be simply different colours or shapes.

Today I would like you to look a t six different pictures which are all examples of Abstract Art. Decide which is your favourite and tick it. At the bottom I want you to tell me why the picture you have chosen is your favourite.

Have a lovely day Year 1, please keep practising your spellings, phonics and reading at home as much as you can. You are all working so incredibly hard and I couldn't be more proud of you all. Remember your grown ups are busy too so make sure you are doing super listening and being as helpful when you can. Your grown ups will really appreciate any help you can give them.

Keep up the great work! smiley

Home Learning-Tuesday 26th January

Good Morning Year 1, smiley

I hope you had a great first day back yesterday. Have you had a chance to look at Reading Eggs yet? Please do, it is a fantastic website with lots of activities on. Have a look at the comprehension activity I have also set. If you click on the Reading Eggspress picture when you login, it should show the activity here. Please let me know if you are having any difficulties accessing this. Today we are meeting at 2pm and we will be talking through the adding by making 10 activity from yesterday so please make sure you have a pencil and some paper with you as we will be working out some number sentences together.

Phonics

Today in phonics you are going to recapping the phoneme or-as in fork. Watch the video and then complete the work I have set. Please don't worry about printing the phonics sheet you can simply write the or words in your exercise book or on a piece of paper. Go to this link for today's video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2C_ANTT7zs

Maths

Today we are going to recap the work again from yesterday on adding by making 10. This can be quite a tricky concept so we will be doing it for our maths lesson and also for our live meting this afternoon. If you have completed this maths work before our meeting at 2pm. please bring it with you so we can discuss the questions. First I would like you to play a game with Curious George called 'The Museum of Tens'. In this game it will show a number of items and then you have to choose a number from the bottom of the screen to make the total amount add up to 10.

Go to this link to play https://pbskids.org/curiousgeorge/busyday/ten/

Once you have played this game, I would like you to watch the video again from yesterday,

Adding by making 10

Once you have watched this video, please have a go at today's work. It is very similar to yesterday’s work but I want to know that you feel secure with this concept before we move on. Use the interactive tens frame and counters to help you.

https://apps.mathlearningcenter.org/number-frames/

English

Today in English we are going to be using our knowledge of using a question mark to write down some questions that we would like to ask our character. Yesterday you met our main character from our book and you wrote down all the things you could see in the picture. Then you made a prediction about what the different items could tell us about the character and what his job might be.

Using our question openers, write down some questions you would like to ask our character. What would you like to know more about? Use the image to think about the questions you would like to ask. I might ask 'Why do you have a model of a rocket on the fireplace?' Write your questions in your exercise book or alternatively on a piece of paper.

Afternoon Work-PE

For the last few weeks in PE, you have been working on shapes, rolling, travelling and jumping and you are now going to use these elements to create your own routine. Below are pictures of the routine selection card and gymnastics routine planning sheet that you will need today. Both of these documents can be found at the bottom of today's post. I have included images to remind you of how both males and females present in gymnastics too in case you can’t remember.

You will need to number each box on the planning sheet from 1-7 and then use the selection card to pick which of the specific skills you want to have in your routine. For example, for skill number 2 which is shape I would like to do a pike sit in my routine so I would either draw picture of myself doing a pike in box number 2 or just write ‘pike sit’ in the box. You will need to complete the routine card in the same way for each of the skills. Remember that the colours relate to the difficulty of each of the skills too so green ones are simpler whereas the red are more challenging so please only choose skills that you are comfortable with.

So by either using the document below or by drawing your own on some paper, I would like you to create your routine. As you are planning your routine, have a little practice of it and think carefully about how each of the skills you have chosen link together, you might have to make some changes along the way but that just shows that you’re thinking carefully about your routine and trying to make it the best it can possibly be. I would really love to see some of your routines Year 1 so send them over to me on Purple Mash if you can. Next week you will be spending time practicing and refining your plan then on the last week of the half term I’ll be asking you to send me over a video of your routine so I can see you in action!

I really hope that you enjoy creating your own gymnastics routine Year 1. I really can’t wait to see them! yes

Have a lovely day, we are looking forward to seeing you on the live meeting at 2pm.

Home Learning- Monday 25th January

Good Morning Year 1,smiley

I hope you had a lovely weekend and managed to get some time outside to play in the snow! I played in the garden and built another snowman, this time it hasn't melted (yet).  Are you ready for another week of Home Learning? I am sure you are, you are all superstars and work really hard with all the activities I have set for you. Please remember to send me your work through purple mash, I really love seeing all the amazing things you have been doing. yes

Reading Eggs    https://readingeggs.co.uk/

I have signed our class up to a trial of reading eggs which includes, Reading Eggs, Reading Eggspress and Fast Phonics. I have emailed your child’s login through purple mash and also a parent’s guide. Our trial is until February half term at which point, I will be seeking feedback on how you all got on. Fast phonics allows your child to work through phonics games/activities and reading books which are closely aligned to Letters and Sounds. There is also an online library with thousands of books. You may have already signed up to a parent trial account, if this is the case then you can link the account to the school, just follow the guide on the parent info on purple mash. When you child first logs on, they will have to complete a short assessment activity to set them off at the right level for them. I have spent some time exploring this and it is excellent! Please take some time exploring all that is on offer.

**I have also set a comprehension activity through Reading Eggs which is due on Wednesday 27th January**

The children will see this when they log on

Phonics- ar as in bark

Every day I will be directing you to a Letters and Sounds phonics video on You tube. Today we are going to recap the digraph ar. Watch the lesson and then complete the worksheet please.

Maths

In maths today we are going to be adding by making 10. First, I would like you to play one of our favourite games, Funky Mummy. Choose the bonds to 10 option and play away!

https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/funkyMummy/index.html

After you have matched all your numbers bonds to 10, I would like you to watch this short video.

Add by making 10

Once you have watched this short video, ask an adult to go through the power point with you and then choose the work for today that you feel most comfortable doing.

English

Today we are going to start a new book that we are going to be working from for the next two weeks. To start us off today we are going to use a picture from the story to find out information about a character. Have a careful look at the picture and make a list of the things that you can see. What do these things tell you about the character? Can you write some sentences using your ideas?  Go to this link to see me explain it in more detail. https://youtu.be/h1FBleGkNY0

Afternoon work-Science

Last week we had a look at some objects and what material they were made from. This week we are going to look at the properties of materials and what adjectives we can use to describe what they are like. First, I would like you to watch this video on Espresso.

https://central.espresso.co.uk/espresso/primary_uk/subject/module/video/item1134421/grade1/module1128907/index.html

Home Learning- Friday 22nd January

Good Morning Year 1, laugh

Well its Friday again and you have completed another very successful week of home learning.  Thank you to all of you that joined the meeting and brought the things you had made; it was so lovely to see you all. You are all superstars! I am so very proud of you. You are all being so sensible and grown up with your online learning.smiley

Where did all the snow come from on Wednesday evening? It rained for ages and then loads of snow arrived. I excitedly built a snowman to show you for our meeting and then I woke up and it had melted which made me sad. crying

Its spelling test day today, so please ask an adult to test you on your spellings. I can see that you have been practising on spelling shed so please keep this up. Your new spellings are now on for next week.

Maths

In maths today we are going to have a practise of all the things we have been doing this week with number bonds and addition. I have added some number bonds and addition games and activities for you to have a look at. You don't have to do all the activities. Have a look and choose what you want to do today.

Number bonds hit the button game https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

English

Today in English we are going to be using question marks to ask Spinderella some questions.

First, I would like you to go to ask an adult to go through the short power point about using questions marks. After you have done this please go to this game. You have to put the question mark at the end of the sentence that is a question. When we use a question mark, we don’t use a full stop as well.

https://www.roythezebra.com/reading-games/question-mark-1.html

When we ask questions we use specific words to start our questions. Some of these words are who, what, when, where, how, and why. Go to this video to see me explain it in more detail. https://youtu.be/0DCfTLoYzl8

For today's work I would like you to think of a question that you could ask Spinderella for each question opener. Can you write your questions down and remember to use a capital letter, finger spaces, cursive writing, and a question mark in each question.

For example,    What number is your favourite?

Afternoon work

As it is Friday, we always have golden time in school but before you choose a golden time activity at home, I would like you to have a little practise of the song we began last week. Last week I asked you to play the warm up activities for  'Zoo time.'

Go to this link https://charanga.com/resources/17142-learn-to-sing-the-song-zootime

We are going to start to learn the song, Choose the first verse to listen and then practise. You can listen first with the vocal to sing along with and then you can just have the backing track and sing along yourself.

Once you have had a little singing practise, I would like you to choose a golden time activity that you enjoy and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and having some fun. After all it can't be all work and no play, especially when you are all working as hard as you are.

Have a super safe and enjoyable weekend Year 1, we will see you again next week smiley

Keep sending me your work on Purple mash and have a look at the activities that Miss Jervis and Mrs Downey have set. I have also added some Spinderella activities like colouring, spider pom-pom and a number activity.

Thank you to all the adults supporting the children with their learning, it is very much appreciated.

Good Morning Year 1, smiley

I hope you are all ok. I know you are all working incredibly hard at home and your grown-ups are helping you. Thank you to you all for working so hard and keeping up such an amazing effort. I really am incredibly proud of you all. I am looking forward to seeing you this afternoon and seeing what amazing things you have made. You will be telling us what you’ve made and why you’ve made it so have a little think about what you might say when its your turn to share. Miss Jervis and Mrs Downey will be making something too and we may even get a surprise visit from Mr Moore- we will wait and see! laugh

I don’t know about you year 1 but I am fed up of the rain now and wish it would stop. Maybe if we sing ‘Rain Rain go away’, it will stop raining.

Maths

Today in maths we are going to start with a game. Go to this link https://www.mathplayground.com/ASB_Jumping_Chicks.html

choose your player name, then the colour of your chick. A number will appear at the bottom of the screen and you have to choose the correct number of leaves to jump to that matches the number. If you choose the wrong amount of leaves you will fall into the water, so make sure you count before you jump!

Once you have played this game, ask an adult to go through today’s power point with you and then look at the work below. Reminder, you only have to choose one sheet to complete you do not have to do all three. If you want to complete more than one sheet, then this is also ok.

English

Today we are going to be writing a fact file about Spiders as we have been looking at the Spinderella book.

First, watch the Spider video in Espresso at this link

https://central.espresso.co.uk/espresso/primary_uk/subject/module/video/item1158221/grade1/module1149557/index.html?source=search-all-all-all-all&source-keywords=spiders

Your login is student22316 and your password is abc123 then ask a grown up to go through the power point all about spiders. Once you have done this and using your knowledge from the video and the PowerPoint, I would like you to complete a fact file on a Spider. I have added two fact file templates for you to choose from if you would like or you can present it however you choose. I have added some instructions for a spider web paper plate activity if you would like an extra fun task to do.

Afternoon work- Geography

Today in Geography I would like you to think about where you live. Do you live close to school or a bit further away? Knowing where you live is really important and it’s good to try and learn your home address too. Do you know your address? Why do we all need an address? How do the postmen/women know where to bring our post?

Ask a grown up to go through the power point about ‘Where do I live?’ and then have a go at completing a passport for your home address. You can decorate your passport however you like.

Have a super day Year 1 we can’t wait to see you at 2pm laugh Please remember to keep sending me your work on Purple Mash, I really love seeing what you’ve been doing. If you can’t send it every day, then it may be easier for your grown ups to send it all at the end of the week. Either way is absolutely fine.

Good Morning Year 1,smiley

Thank you for joining me in the live meeting yesterday. It was so lovely to see you all again. I am looking forward to seeing what you have made for Thursday’s meeting. If you weren’t in the meeting today, please do not worry. Try and join us on Thursday at 2pm if you can.  I have asked everyone to build something and bring it to the meeting to show and talk about what they have made. You can use anything you have at home.

When you are on the meeting, if you are unable see everyone, please try the following steps.

  • Click the three dots at the bottom right hand side of the screen.
  • Choose layout options and select the option ‘tiled’ and then increase the slider at the bottom to at least 30.
  • This should allow you to see everyone in the meeting.
  • This setting is not saved so each time you join a meeting you will have to adjust the setting to be able to see everyone.

I hope this helps. yes

Maths

Today in Maths we are going to be looking at number bonds within 10 and 20 but first I would like you to recap on your number bonds to 10. We have done this a lot in class, so I know you are all very good. If you want to watch the Number blocks ‘Ten again’ for a reminder then go to this link.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0bn5k6h/numberblocks-series-3-ten-again

Once you have done this, go to think link to play a number bonds to 10 game. You have to save the whale by matching the pipe numbers to make bonds to 10. Match the bonds, turn the wheel, and see the whale jump free.

http://www.ictgames.com/saveTheWhale/index.html

After you have saved the whale, ask an adult to go through the power point with you and then have a look at the work I have set. As you are already used to by now, please pick the one that you feel most comfortable with. You do not have to do all three.

English

Today in English we are going to write about four different parts of the story. I have done an example for you. Look at each picture and write about what happens in this part of the story.  Go to this link to see me explain what to do!

https://youtu.be/IZVLeV__nFw

If you are unable to print the pictures, please do not worry. Please just draw 4 different parts of the story and write about what happens. Remember your capital letters, finger spaces, full stops, using and to join words or sentences and cursive writing.

I can't wait to see your work! smiley

Afternoon Work- RE

Today I want you to think about your friends. I know that we can't see all our friends right now but its good to know they are still there. Who are your friends and what makes them and you a good friend?

Go to this link to watch a short video about being friends.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/z6rvr82

After you have watched this video, ask an adult to go through the power point with you about friendship. Ask you adults about their friends, how did they meet them. What do they do together to have fun?

Once you have done this have a look a the work below.

Choose the work you feel most comfortable doing. I want to see some lovely pictures of you with your friends.

Good Morning Year 1, smiley

Thankyou for joining the live meeting yesterday, it was so lovely to see you all. I am sorry for the technical difficulties I experienced but Miss Jervis and Mrs Downey assured me that Happy Birthday was sung and everyone joined in so thank you for that. Maths

Today in maths we are going to be carrying on with adding by counting on using interactive ten frames and counters.

First, I would like you to go to this link

https://apps.mathlearningcenter.org/number-frames/

Select the ten frames from the left-hand side menu and then you can choose the amount of counters you want.

You can even change the colours!

Have a go at answering these questions using the ten frames and counters to help you.

7 + 2 =

8 + 5 =

10 + 4 =

10 + 6 =

Once you have done this, ask an adult to go through today's power point with you and then have a look at the worksheets I have put below and choose the one you feel most comfortable with.

English

How did you get on with your predictions yesterday? Well today I would like you listen to the story and then you are going to sequence the pictures from the story. Does the title of the story remind you of any other familiar stories you have read? What about Cinderella! There are similarities in both stories. Unfortunately the video I had recorded of me reading the story has not uploaded as I am still having some technical difficulties crying On this occasion please go to this link to listen to the story being read.

https://youtu.be/Qjgp3YiaKJw

Don't worry if you can't print the pictures at home, just have a look at them and talk to an adult about which order they go in. You may need to refer back to the video and pause it to check the order of your pictures. If you can print them out then please do and cut them out and stick them in order.

Afternoon work- PE

I mentioned last week that you were going to start to create your own gymnastics routine and last Tuesday I asked you to practice your shapes and rolls. Here is a reminder of the ones you were looking at and also the travelling and jumping that you are going to focus on today. Remember, all of the moves are colour coded with green being the easiest moves and red being more challenging. Please only do the moves that you are comfortable with and do not do forwards or backwards rolls with adult supervision.

I have posted all of the videos and documents below as I did last week in case you need a reminder of any of the moves. I have also included a new document on jumps which you may find useful. Here are the rolling videos if you wish to use them. Please remember to only roll if you are confident in doing so and if an adult is present.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=_9HxqFzHAT4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gpq928mjB74

Below is a video link to show you a simple chasse movement, which is just like a gallop. Watching the video will help you with the rest of your travelling moves.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrdHn1ALJFk

Please make sure that you recap all of the shapes and rolls that you are comfortable in doing this afternoon and then practise all of the travels and jumps that you are able to do. Next week we will then start to create our routine using all of these moves.

Well done for another super day of home learning Year 1. Looking forward to seeing you all at 2pm.

I know you all did some great material hunting around your houses last week! Today we are going to be think more about what objects are made from and that they are often made from more than one material. First, I would like you to ask an adult to go through the power point with you and then I would like you to go to this link.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zrssgk7/articles/z9pgcdm

Click on each area of the picture to find out a bit more about each material.

After you have done this I would like you to look at the work below. There are two options for you to choose from. You can use the sheet that already has objects on and then fill in the missing words to describe what materials the objects are made from using the word bank provided or you can find 3 objects in your house, draw the object and then write 3 short sentences about what material each object is made of.

Have a super Monday Year 1, I am looking forward to seeing your lovely faces on our live meeting tomorrow. I hope you can join us. Remember to have a look at the 2Do activities that Miss Jervis and Mrs Downey have been setting for you.

Home Learning – Friday 15th January

Good Morning Year 1, smiley

Thank you to those of you that were able to join us for the live meeting yesterday and thank you for joining in with our quiz. You were amazing! I am so impressed with how well you are doing with getting online and how sensible you are being when in the meeting. I am super proud.

Well we have made it through another week of home learning and you are doing an exceptional job. I miss you all so very much and it really does make my day when I get to see your lovely faces. heart Thank you also to your adults that are supporting you to get online and at home with your work, they are all superstars! laugh

Its spelling test day today so please ask an adult to test you at home and let me know how you get on. New spellings are on spelling shed today for  your next spelling test next week. Good luck! yes

Maths

Today in maths we are going to have a go at a few questions from everything you have learnt this week. There are only a few questions but it will help to improve your problem solving skills which is really important in maths. You may need a grown up to help you read through the maths problems.

English

In English today we are going to be thinking about the magic medicine that Princess Pearl makes for the King to cure him of his orange fever. Now in real life we wouldn't be able to find the same ingredients as Pearl did as these are only made up for the story. We are going to think about creating our own magic medicine, so for your first task I would like you to look at the sheet with all the the mythical creatures on and think about what you could get from them. For example dragon's breath, fairy dust, or a lions whisker? Make a list of 4 ingredients that you would need for your medicine on the magic medicine sheet.

Before you start to write some instructions about how to make your medicine, either go back to my you tube video where I read the story and stop on the page where Princess Pearl is making the medicine by mixing all the ingredients. If you have the book, then go to this page or alternatively on BBC iplayer, go back to the link from Monday to watch that part of the video. This will help you think about writing your instructions.

Once you have done this and only if you want to, you can draw/colour your medicine in a medicine bottle. I have added all three sheets at the bottom of today's work.

Afternoon Work- Golden time

As it is Friday, we normally have golden time. You have all worked super hard again this week so please find an activity that you enjoy. I have added some ideas for some non screen activities if you want to do any of them, alternatively you may want to just relax and chill with your favourite movie.

Please remember to keep sending me your work on purple mash and have a look at the activities that Miss Jervis and Mrs Downey have set for you too.

Have a safe and restful weekend Year 1 (and adults) and we will see you again next week!

Here are the shapes and rolls that you need to be able to do, they are colour coded with green being the easiest moves and red being more challenging. Please only do the moves that you are comfortable with and do not do forwards or backwards rolls with adult supervision.

There are two Power Points below which show the rolls and shapes if you are unsure what they are, I have attached video clips to demonstrate forwards and backwards rolls. Again, please only do this if you feel confident enough to and if an adult is present, they are totally optional.

Home Learning- Tuesday 5th January

Good morning Year 1 and Happy New Year to you and your families. I very much hope that you have all had a lovely Christmas break.  I am so sorry that we can’t all be back in the classroom together today, I was really looking forward to hearing all about your Christmas holidays and I know that you were all looking forward to seeing each other too. crying

For a short period of time, we are having to go back to home learning. We are doing this to keep you and your families as safe as possible at home as we try to prevent the spread of Coronavirus as much as we can. I know home learning isn’t as fun as being in the classroom and I want nothing more than to be there with you all too! But for the next few weeks I need you to all work as hard as you possibly can for me at home and be really well behaved and listen to your parents as many of them will be trying to work from home which is a real challenge for them too!

So, I will be setting daily work for you which will follow our usual school timetable. I understand that many of you and your parents will be juggling many different things at home so all that I ask of you is that you do what you can of the work when you can and just try your best. I cannot ask any more of you than that and I know you will all make me incredibly proud.smiley

Even though we won't be in class together today, I still want to hear about what you did for Christmas. What presents did you get? What was your favourite present? Did you leave a mince pie and some milk for Santa? I did and when I woke up it was gone! I also left some carrots our for those hungry reindeer, they are very busy on Christmas Eve.

English

Write down or draw what you did for Christmas. You might want to draw a picture of you opening your presents!   I have added a template for you to use but if you can't print it off don't worry just find any piece of paper at home and use that. Take a picture and send it to me on Purple Mash.

This term, our Geography based topic is ‘Where do, and did the wheels on the bus go?’ which requires us to investigate our local area.  We will be looking at different types of transport and points of interest in our surrounding area. In Science we will be focusing on Animals and Humans, identifying a variety of different animals and also exploring our human senses.

During the first few weeks of term, we will be using specially selected texts from the No Outsiders scheme of work to support the children in settling back into school. We will also be looking at a book called ‘The Colour Monster’ which will provide lots of opportunities for discussions on thoughts, feelings and emotions on returning to school.

*Important Information*

Homework

We are changing the way that we set our homework and as of this term, the children will be set a Pick and Mix style homework based on their current topic. All of the children will be required to complete the activities on their Pick and Mix at home (ideally 1 per week) and share them with me via Purple Mash so I can see all of their wonderful work. Homework will no longer come to and from school each week and no homework should be sent in to school.  You will find the Autumn Pick and Mix Homework below.

Spellings

Spellings will be sent home on a Friday and tested the following FridayAccess to the Spelling Shed has been put in the front of your child's reading record. You can use the games on there to practise each week's spellings.

Please ensure that your child is accessing spelling shed to practise their spellings.

Please can you check that you can log into spelling shed using the logins provided in the front of your child's reading planner. Children will be set spellings every week and spellings are dependent on their phonics phase.

Children will play the game to practice the spelling I have set for that week and then we will do a written test every Friday. The results will be communicated via the reading planner so please ensure that your chid has this with them in school every day. Please also encourage your child to access spelling shed frequently throughout the week.

If your child struggles to write the words, I am able to use other resources to deliver the spelling test for them.

Any questions please let me know.

P.E.

Lessons will be on Tuesday and Friday. If your child wears earrings they will need to be removed by yourself or them prior to the sessions. Children are unable to participate when wearing earrings or any other kind of jewellery. All children will also need an outdoor kit (plain joggers/jumper and trainers) PE kits will be sent home every Friday to be washed over the weekend and returned the following Monday.

Clothing

Please ensure that ALL of your child's clothing/shoes are clearly labelled. As the weather will be getting wetter, please can you send your child with a pair of wellies to remain at school so that we can access our outdoor area, even on muddy days.

Reading Books

Reading books need to be in school every day. Your child will read of specific days each week both individually and as part of Guided Reading sessions. Please ensure that your child reads at least 4 times at home each week and that this is recorded in their planner. Please ensure you are signing your child's planner once they have read at home.
