Walk to School Scheme

James Brindley Community Primary School take part in WOWthe year-round walk to school challenge. WOW rewards children who walk to school at least once a week with a collectible badge each month. There are 5 different badges to collect from now until the end of the school year. Daily journeys are logged by pupils on our interactive Travel Tracker accessed through the school’s computer or whiteboard in the classroom. If your family already cycles or scoots to school, these will count towards earning a WOW badge.

Why walk to school?

Our school is taking part to encourage more children and their families to walk to school and enjoy the many benefits this brings. Walking to school helps children feel happier and healthier and even do better in class because they arrive refreshed, fit and ready to learn. More families walking means fewer cars on the road during the school run, helping to reduce congestion and pollution at the school gates.

What if we can’t walk to school?

If you live too far away or don’t have time to walk the whole way to school, you can Park and Stride to earn your WOW badge.  Park or hop off public transport at least ten minutes away from the school and walk the rest of the way.

We hope that you join in with this fun project so your family can enjoy the benefits of walking to school.
