‘Working together to fulfil potential’

Science

At James Brindley, we use a combination of exciting and engaging topics, each of which is centred around an overarching question that engages and 'hooks' the children's interest, alongside experiments and investigations, which allow the children to experience the true wonder and amazement of Science in a fun and memorable way.

All Science topics covered at James Brindley are divided into the three key strands of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, an overview of these topics, as well as the specific learning challenges covered by all year groups can be found within the Learning Challenge Overview documents below. When planning fun and engaging lessons, teachers refer to the Progression in Knowledge documents (see below) to ensure that there is adequate curriculum coverage and also that there is clear progression in scientific knowledge from year group to year group. Alongside these documents,  teachers also use the Progression in Scientific Skills document below, to ensure that each topic is also focused upon improving individuals scientific skills as well as knowledge.

At James Brindley, we also take part in the annual British Science Week. During this week, we invite our friends and family to share what Science looks like at James Brindley. Please take a look at the videos below to see for yourself.
