What a busy and brilliant half term it has been in Year 3! The children have worked incredibly hard, shown fantastic enthusiasm, and produced some wonderful learning across the curriculum.
In English, we’ve been inspired by The Lighthouse animation, which has sparked lots of creative and thoughtful writing. The children have written imaginative alternative endings, formal letters, and diary entries, really getting into role as lighthouse keepers and villagers. Along the way, they’ve been developing their writing skills by using expanded noun phrases, adverbial phrases, and apostrophes for possession to add detail and clarity to their work. We’ve been so impressed with their creativity and growing confidence as writers.
In Maths, we’ve been tackling multiplication and division, focusing on multiplying and dividing two-digit numbers and understanding remainders. The children have worked hard to explain their thinking, use practical resources, and apply their skills to problem-solving tasks.
Our classroom has been full of creativity in Art. The children designed and made their own clay lighthouses and created stunning cliff, sea, and beach-themed dioramas. These projects allowed them to experiment with shape, texture, and detail—and the finished pieces look fantastic!
In Science, we’ve been learning all about the human body, focusing on muscles and bones. One of the highlights was making our very own bionic hands, which helped us understand how muscles and tendons work together to create movement. The children were fascinated and asked some brilliant scientific questions.
It has been a pleasure to see the children’s curiosity, teamwork, and determination shine this half term. We’re incredibly proud of everything they’ve achieved and can’t wait for all the exciting learning still to come!
Thank you for your continued support 😊
