Uniform

At James Brindley Primary School, our uniform helps pupils feel part of our school community and supports a positive environment for learning. We aim to keep uniform affordable, practical and inclusive for all families.

Everyday Uniform including shoes

EYFS Uniform

Year 1 to Year 6 Uniform

  • Grey shorts or trousers, or grey skirt/pinafore dress

  • Gold polo shirt

  • Royal blue V-neck jumper or cardigan with school logo

  • Grey socks

  • Plain black school shoes

  • Yellow and white gingham summer dress (optional during warmer weather)

Shoes

Children should wear plain black school shoes that are practical and suitable for daily school activities.

The following should not be worn as everyday school footwear:

  • Open-toed sandals

  • Sliders

  • Fashion boots

  • High heels

  • Coloured trainers

Where children need alternative footwear for medical reasons, parents should contact the school.

PE Kit

All pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 should have:

  • Royal blue shorts

  • Yellow PE T-shirt

  • lack pumps or suitable trainers

  • Navy jogging bottoms and sweatshirt for outdoor activities in colder weather

PE kit should be kept in school where appropriate and clearly named.

The school will lend suitable kit where necessary so that no pupil misses PE, a club or a competition because of cost or lack of equipment.

Specialist team clothing required for a competition will normally be loaned by the school and suitable alternatives will be considered for medical, religious or other justified needs.

Hair and Jewellery

We ask that hairstyles are safe and suitable for school activities.

  • Long hair should be tied back for PE and other activities where safety requires it.

  • Hair accessories should be simple and, where possible, in school colours.

  • We respect cultural, religious and protective hairstyles and will make reasonable adjustments where required.

For safety reasons:

  • One pair of small stud earrings may be worn.

  • Watches may be worn. Smart watches must not be used for communication, photography or internet access during the school day.

  • Jewellery must be removed or covered for PE and sporting activities where required.

Branded Items

To help keep costs low, only a small number of branded items are required.

Required branded items:

  • School jumper or cardigan

  • School tie (Years 1 to 6)

Optional branded items:

  • Fleece

  • Coat

  • Book bag

  • PE bag

  • Backpack

Families may use suitable unbranded alternatives where items are optional.

Orders take approximately 2-3 weeks and you have 3 options for delivery at checkout:

Pre-loved Uniform

We operate a pre-loved uniform scheme to support families and reduce waste.

Good-quality donated items are available free of charge, and can be found in our main entrance in labelled storage.

Parents can contact the school office for further information or to donate items that are no longer needed.

Equality and Individual Needs

We recognise that some pupils may require adaptations to uniform because of:

  • Disability

  • Medical needs

  • Sensory needs

  • Religion or belief

  • Cultural requirements

If your child requires an adjustment, please contact the school. Requests will be considered sensitively and individually.
