Poetry Week

Date: 26th Mar 2026 @ 4:31pm

Reception class had a wonderful time taking part in Poetry Week!

We began the week by revisiting some well-loved nursery rhymes. The children enjoyed listening to, joining in with, and acting out classics, developing their confidence and expression as they performed. It was lovely to see them remembering familiar words and adding their own actions to bring the rhymes to life.

As the week went on, we introduced a selection of challenging tongue twisters. The children had lots of giggles trying to say them faster and faster! This was a fantastic way to support their speaking and listening skills, as well as helping them to hear and practise different sounds in words.

Throughout the week, the children also had opportunities to create their own silly phrases and rhythms. We were so impressed with their imagination and enthusiasm as they explored different rhyming words.
