Poetry Week
Date: 20th Mar 2026 @ 11:59am
This week, in Year 2 we have been looking at performance poetry. We took inspiration from The Sound Collector by Roger McGough, to create our own sound poems. We practised saying the poem out loud and using our voices to make the noises described. After, we spent some time collected various sounds from around the school and in our classroom. Then we imagined what noises we might hear at the beach, at the football, in a fire station, in a restaurant and at the swimming pool. In our partners we explored the words used for noises and completed our own sound poems. Some of us were lucky enough to perform our poems.
On Friday, we chose a performance poem in our table groups. Some of us chose to make up actions for our performances. Everyone was loud and clear!
We have thoroughly enjoyed our Poetry week, and definitely have some budding poets ☺️
