Our Duck Eggs Have Hatched!
What an exciting few weeks we have had at nursery! The children have been eagerly watching our duck eggs in the incubator, observing the changes each day and learning about the life cycle of ducks.
The excitement grew as we noticed the first signs of hatching. The children were fascinated to see the ducklings break through their shells and emerge into the world. They watched carefully as each duckling hatched and became stronger.
Once the ducklings were ready, every child had the opportunity to gently hold them, helping to build confidence, care and respect for living things. One of the highlights was placing the ducklings into a shallow water tray for their very first swim. The children loved watching them paddle and explore the water naturally.
This experience provided many valuable learning opportunities, including understanding life cycles, observing change over time, developing language through discussion, and encouraging curiosity about the natural world. It also helped the children learn about kindness, responsibility and how to care for animals.
We are so proud of how gentle and caring the children have been throughout this wonderful experience, and we have loved sharing this special journey with them.
