Paul Starling, Chair of the Governors
(Co-opted Governor)
With a Masters Degree in Business and training in a wide range of topics, I have been able to contribute to the school and work alongside the rest of the Governing body and the leadership team in supporting the school’s goals.
Claire Hardwick, Vice Chair of the Governors
(Parent Governor)
I have a teaching degree and worked within the Primary sector in Salford. I have a
personal interest in Special Educational Needs and am frequently involved in
discussions with the LEA on the role of SEND in schools.
Helen Holt
(Staff Governor)
I have a Bachelor of Education degree with specialism in Early Years;
I have always enjoyed being involved in the wider community of the school and was
interested in the supporting role of the governing body.
Gary Eden JP
(Co-opted Governor)
My background was in the Fire Service where I worked for 25 years. I am a serving Magistrate and have been involved with James Brindley Primary School for 30 years so I wanted to give something back through my role as School Governor.
Pete Molyneux
(Parent Governor)
I have 25 years middle management experience in the Energy sector including 10 years in Project Management. I have a Diploma in Management Studies. My main motivation as a Governor is to ensure James Brindley Primary School continues to maintain the same high standards my children were fortunate to benefit from there between 2004 and 2011.
Beth Fielding-Lloyd
(Parent Governor)
I have been a University lecturer for 15 years and am currently in a management role.
I have a PhD in sociology and an adult teaching qualification. I have one child
at James Brindley and want to support the school in maintaining its exceptionally
high standards.
Dan Evans
(Parent Governor)
I’m a Chartered Environmental Scientist with a Master’s degree in Environmental Science.
I have 15 years’ experience as a Projects Engineer specialising in brownfield regeneration
across the UK. My reason to serve as a Parent Governor is twofold; that the children who
attend James Brindley benefit from maintaining the School’s current high standards, and by return,
the School remains accountable for the decisions that are made for the benefit of the children
and the wider community.
Emma Nightingale
(Co-opted Governor)
I am a parent of two boys (aged 5 & 8) and also hold a Management Position in the
Banking Industry. I have a Finance background (Qualified Management Accountant)
and over 10 years of people management experience. As a Governor at James Brindley
I hope to use my business skills and knowledge combined with my passion for getting the
best out of people to contribute to the vision of helping the children reach their full potential.
Michelle Cobley
(Parent Governor)
Having worked in HR for over 20 years, in both the Public and Private Sector, I currently hold a
Senior HR Policy and People Relations role.
As a Parent Governor at James Brindley Community Primary School, I will work alongside fellow
Governors, to support the School continue to be an outstanding setting for our children.
Matthew Gartland

Having been involved in Education professionally for over ten years, as a parent of two boys at
the school, one in Year 4, and one just starting in Nursery, I am very keen to support the school
however I can towards achieving its objectives over the short and long term.
