Emotional Friendly Schools

Here at James Brindley Community Primary School, we pride ourselves on being Emotionally Friendly.

Here are the EFS Champions for our school:

Our doors are always open for both the staff and pupils.

Please come and speak to us!

We recognise the need to support the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff, fostering an environment which promotes positive mental health.

We aim to ensure that all children are happy, healthy and able to cope with everything that life may throw at them. We promote and teach our Learning Powers, of resilience, curiosity, co-operation and determination, in order to help our children to develop positive self perceptions and appropriate coping mechanisms in a seamless and continuous method of delivery.

We acknowledge that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable, and that anyone in our community may need additional emotional support from time to time. We believe that supporting one another, both through embedded whole school practises and targeted individual support, we can bring about a more positive environment in which the mental health of all is nurtured and can positively grow.

If you are ever concerned for your child's mental well being, you can speak to any of our EFS champions for advice.

We have achieved Emotionally Friendly Schools status (July 2022).

The Emotionally Friendly Schools (EFS) programme is a flexible, whole school approach to improving children's mental health and well-being.

There are four key focus areas:

1. Staff wellbeing and School Ethos

2. Classroom Practice

3. Assessing Children's Needs

4. Supporting Individual Children
