2017-18 Salford Tag Rugby Championships

Yet again, the weather conspired to make the Salford Tag Rugby Championships one of the most difficult team competitions of the year. The all weather pitches at the AJ Bell Stadium have certainly proved to live up to their name as the competition went ahead (yet again) in all weathers! Thankfully we'd 11 hardy souls with us on the day who were up to the challenge.

In our opening two games, we conceded a try in the final five seconds (literally!) of each match, emerging with a 2 - 2 draw vs Cadishead and 1 - 1 draw vs St Mark's. We rounded off the group stage with a convincing 2 - 0 win over Moorside to remain unbeaten. Those two early draws, however, were to prove decisive as we finished group runners up rather than winners.

Into Pot 'B' we went, starting with another convincing 2 - 0 victory over a strong Holy Family side. Our final game against Lightoaks Junior School resulted in a 2 - 1 defeat, over only defeat of the day.

Thank you to Mr Stanfield for coaching the side in preparation and to the children themselves who produced excellent performances throughout the aftenoon. A final thank you is extended to our parents and grandparents who withstood the harsh weather to support us in each of our games. We're very grateful for your time and cheering.
