We were delighted to have yet another 6 children make their cross country debut this season in todays races at Bolton Road Playing Fields. Well done to Freya Morris-Lowe, Connor Butler, Kieran Boulter, Scarlett Wright, Sam Morrissey and Ethan Davenport. You wore the James Brindley colours proudly today.
As always, we are very grateful to the parents, friends and family who bring our children along to compete for their school. We’ve a great atmosphere in the James Brindley Camp and this resonated through all four races.
The course at Bolton Road is tough. The younger children face a small but steep climb at the end. Being able to see almost the entire course, if anything, just makes the going that bit tougher. Despite that, our younger runners equipped themselves very ably. The entire squad in both girls and boys races packed well and showed that we’ve the makings of an excellent team for years to come. Well done to those younger runners who are giving away up to 2 years to some of their older rivals- you are little stars! We’d a number of personal best finishes in the squad and we are absolutely thrilled for each and every one of you.
The older runners face an additional steep hill after 200m of running. With all the recent rain, this hill was slippery and treacherous, claiming a victim or two. That being said, there’s always a hint of a smile as the runners snake their way down the slope on the way back to the main field. Both girls and boys showed courage, resilience, determination and more than a hint of stamina to power round the demanding circuit. Once again our runners packed incredibly well and have lots to be proud of. Well done to each and every one of you!
We’ll update the team positions as soon as we have the results.
The next Salford Schools Cross Country race is on Saturday 23 January 2016. More information can be found by clicking the link below.
Before then, however, we will have our School Cross Country Championships with a Year 2 & 3 Race for Boys and Girls alongside a Year 4, 5 & 6 Race for Boys and Girls. As well as individual medals, a winning house captain will lift the James Brindley trophy in assembly.
