Congratulations to the Salford Girls team who proved their outstanding strength in depth by winning the Greater Manchester Cross Country Championships. With six runners within the first fifteen places, the result never appeared in doubt. The team also took individual gold and bronze. James Brindley were proudly represented on the team by the excellent Lilly Matthews and Issey Fairhurst. Both girls had great runs on a very undulating course.
The Salford Boys team finished in fourth place overall, missing the bronze medals by single digits. The boys managed three runners in the top ten including a silver medal finish for the Salford Schools Champion. James Brindley were represented by Toby Markham, who ran strongly for a mid-field finish. Dino Roiditis, regrettably was unable to take place on the team due to an illness overnight.
Well done to all the Salford athletes for producing great performances. On behalf of all the runners, we'd like to extend our thanks to Jackie Mason, Duncan Mason and Jack Carney for looking after the teams so well. Your time and efforts are very much appreciated.
