Below is a list of events that we currently have confirmed on the School Calendar for each academic year. More details about each event will be emailed or sent home in your child’s packet nearer the time.
Spooky Day
The PTA hold a Spooky Dress up day in the week prior to the Autumn half term. In return for a £1 donation the Children can come to school dressed in a ‘Spooky’ outfit. On the dress up day we hold a Spooky raffle. Each child’s name is entered into a raffle and a lucky winner from each class will win a Spooky themed book prize. In 2014 we raised around £170 from Spooky Day donations.
Next Spooky Day: October 2015
Christmas Card Project
During the Autumn term we offer our annual Christmas Card project. The project usually raises around £300 for the school and provides parents/carers with the chance to buy bespoke Christmas cards and gift tags designed by their children. The children complete their artwork in class during the Autumn term and the designs and order forms are then sent home to parents. We expect the finished products to be delivered back to school by mid November in good time for Christmas.
Next Christmas Card Project: October 2015
Christmas Puddings
We offer parents, carers and staff the chance to order ‘James Brindley’ Christmas puddings during the Autumn term. We intend to offer a variety of puddings including; Christmas Plum Pudding, Chocolate Sponge, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Ginger Sponge and Gluten Free. The puddings are made by the Ultimate Plum Pudding Company in the Lake District and come highly recommended. The Children will be invited to produce a design for the label of James Brindley Christmas Puddings over the October half term break. The winning entry will be used for all of the James Brindley Puddings.
Next Christmas Pudding Project: October/November 2015
Christmas Fair
We usually hold the Annual Christmas Fair during the first week of December. We hope that you will be able to join us for some Christmas festivities, including; carols with the school choir, games, stalls, raffles, craft activities and refreshments. We very much depend upon the support and generosity of Parents/Carers, staff and local businesses to make this event a success. Last year, together with your help we managed to raise a record amount of £1500 for the school.
Next Christmas Fair: December 2015
World Book Day
To celebrate World Book Day we invite the children to join in a sponsored read. The day is divided into fourteen 15 minute sessions during which the children are invited to undertake reading based activities. The children are encouraged to complete as many of the 14 sessions as they can and it is hoped that they can gain sponsorship from friends and family. The day is full of fun activities such as class story times and buddy reading where the older children read to the younger members of the school.
As an incentive every pound raised is converted into house points and the children will be rewarded with a National Book Token gift card equating to half of their sponsorship money. In 2015 the project raised over £900.
Next World Book Day Event: March 2016
Mother’s Day Flowers
In the weeks prior to Mother’s Day we offer the chance to order Mother’s Day Plants presented in a gift bag decorated by your child. The plants are a perfect gift ideal for Mums, Grandmas and the special people in your life. Order forms will be sent home in your child’s packet in February and the plants will be distributed on the Friday before Mother’s day.
Next Mother’s Day Event: March 2016

The PTA hold an annual Easter Egg hunt in the week prior to the Easter holidays. The egg hunt is a fun event during which the children are invited to search for a chocolate egg that has been hidden in the school grounds by the Easter Bunny.
