2017- Year 6 Salford Athletics Championships

Thank you to all our athletes and their fantastic support teams for your tremendous efforts at the Year 6 Salford Schools Athletics Championships today. For many children this is the last time they will wear the James Brindley colours in competition so it's always a celebration tinged with a little bit of nostalgia and sadness.

We were delighted to return with the Merit Shield in the 'Small Schools' category thanks to the excellent performances of our children. Congratulations to our new Salford Champions- Anjali Mistry (Long Jump), Millie Bayman (200m) and our Girls 4 x 100m Relay Team consisting of Izabela Bamber, Amy Lever, Khizzie Crompton and Millie Bayman

A special mention is reserved for a number of children who ran against children at least 1 year older than them to help out our team. Your team spirit is incredible and we are very proud of you all. A special mention for Harry Bayman who suffered a bruising fall 20m into his race but returned to his feet and, despite giving away 50m and two years to his rivals, caught a number of children in the 600m- a fantastic display of resilience and determination.

Well done to you all and thank you on behalf of everyone at school.
