2015- Year 5 Salford Athletics Championships

Congratulations to Team James Brindley on winning the Merit Shield at the Year 5 Salford Athletics Championships today.

Our excellent girls relay team set the tone for the afternoon with a professional and slick performance in their heat. They followed this up with a very close third place in a high-quality final. Indeed, all four girls finished in the top three in their own individual events: Shivani (Long Jump) and Lucy (Throw) had fabulous second place finishes while Ellie (60m) and Madison (80m) were both third place in their finals. In both individual sprint finals, you could have thrown a blanket over the top three finishers- it was really that close. Congratulations also go to Izabella who, despite being in Year 4, finished a close second in her debut over the hurdles- obviously a natural talent.

Our boys team featured many athletes competing out of their age group- well done for your excellent effort and attitude, boys. Luke (60m hurdles) showed excellent technique and was unfortunate to narrowly miss out on a place in the final. In the 600m, Toby ran a steady race to finish just outside the top five. Dylan put in yet another solid performance in the throw and the relay. Well done.

Thank you for all the excellent support from our parents and staff. We couldn't do it without you.
