Our Gymnastics teams took part in the Salford Inter Schools Gymnastics Tournament on Monday 3rd February at Ordsall Fit City. Here they competed against other schools in Salford who had entered into the event. They had been learning 3 routines since December; a floor routine, a body management routine and a vault. The children had been incredibly dedicated to their training and had worked incredibly hard to learn their routines from memory and perfect them.
We have been successful in gymnastics competitions at James Brindley before, however this year we have made history as we are the first school to 'do the triple' as we won gold in every single age group and event!
The Year 1/2 team won overall Gold, with Fern Rothwell being the overall highest scorer in the competition and winning individual gold. Madeleine Bryan gained individual gold on the vault.
The Year 3/4 team won overall Gold, with Isobelle Renshaw-Livesey being the overall highest scorer and winning individual gold. Pheobe Woodard gained individual gold on the floor.
The Year 5/6 team won overall Gold.
Never before has a school had such success at this competition and we are incredibly proud of our achievements. All of the children performed fantastically well and their behaviour and sportsmanship throughout was exceptional. I am incredibly proud of all of the children and how hard they have worked on learning their routines, and they are deserving of their success.
All teams and individuals will now represent Salford at the Greater Manchester Winter Games to be held in Manchester on April 1st, where we are hoping to continue our winning streak representing the City!
Well done Gymnastics Squad - I am incredibly proud of you!! Mrs Sharrock.
